Android Microphone Test – Free, No App Install

Android phones vary wildly across manufacturers, and a microphone that works fine for phone calls can still fail in apps due to permission settings or a blocked port. Before assuming your hardware is broken, this free test lets you check your Android microphone directly in Chrome, no app download or Play Store visit required. Just open the page and speak.

   Grant microphone permission in Chrome

   When prompted, tap Allow for microphone access. If you previously denied it, go to Chrome's site settings for this page and manually enable the Microphone permission.

   Check Android system app permissions

   Go to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Microphone and confirm it's set to Allow, since a system-level block overrides anything you do inside the browser.

   Clean the microphone port

   Dust, lint, or debris in the microphone opening near the charging port is a common cause of muffled audio; gently clean it with a soft brush or compressed air.

   Remove the phone case if audio sounds muffled

   Some thick or poorly designed cases partially cover the microphone opening. Test with the case removed to rule out physical obstruction affecting sound quality.
